2,000,000,000 (yes, 2 billion) pairs of jeans are produced each year and with 1 pair of jeans using upward of 1,800 gallons of water to produce, in addition to other toxic resources, RELEASH wants to give jeans a second life. Nylon, the material of most leashes today, is a polyamide, which is a scientific name for a specific type of plastic. This plastic is made from coal and petroleum which contributes to global warming. RELEASH sees the benefits as two-fold, preventing nylon from being produced (supply and demand), while also utilizing a circular business model by reusing material (jeans) and keeping them out of landfills and incinerators.

About Us
When I moved to LA a few years ago, it was both exciting and overwhelming to say the least. And when navigating major life changes why not start a new relationship AND adopt two large dogs to make things really fun! What we thought would be nice walks in the park, grabbing brunch with our pups and basically living our best lives, actually turned into stressful walks that were spent trying to detangle ourselves from a leash and bob and weave people on the narrow sidewalks. Something had to change!
I scoured the internet for a solution and couldn’t find anything that would solve all of my issues… well the dog walking issues anyway…
As a self-proclaimed environmentalist, I called my mom and asked her if she could sew a leash from an old pair of my jeans. My mom, wanting to help but also mostly wanting to get my old clothes out of her house, said yes.
Combining my two passions of reducing waste and my love of pets was the impetus for RELEASH!
